Pirates just take Termarr Johnson with No. 4 overall decide

The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Georgia prep infielder Termarr Johnson with the fourth in general decide in Important League Baseball’s 2022 amateur draft on Sunday night. Johnson was picked right after fellow substantial schoolers Jackson Holliday and Druw Jones went 1-2, and the Texas Rangers received former Vanderbilt star Kumar Rocker with the third pick.

Johnson was ranked as the No. 4 prospect in the class in June by CBS Sports activities. This is what we wrote at the time:

Johnson was the leading player on CBS Sports’ board getting into the spring, and a couple of evaluators argued he should’ve remained there. He still has a hit instrument that a single veteran scout graded as an 80 — meaning, in layman’s phrases, as great as it gets — and shocking electricity. The downfall for Johnson is (and was normally going to be) his defensive price. He’s probably just a second baseman, and there is certainly always reluctance in using substantial university 2nd basemen for noticeable good reasons they have significantly less margin of error than shortstops or other up-the-middle gamers as it pertains to shifting down the defensive spectrum. Oh effectively. Johnson is heading to strike, and strike a great deal, and he’s heading to do it even though displaying one of the greatest feels for the recreation in the course. He was uncommitted to a college in the spring, but has due to the fact thrown on an Arizona Point out cap. It would seem highly unlikely that he ever satisfies up for the Sunshine Devils.

“You might be having the finest participant in the draft,” Johnson, from Mays Significant Faculty, reported on MLB Network when he questioned if he experienced a concept for Pirates fans shortly soon after he was picked.
